Holbox is one of the main tourist destinations internationally, it is one of the islands north of Yucatan in Mexico, it is located 2 hours from Playa del Carmen, in the state of Quintana Roo. It is part of the “Yum Balam Biosphere Reserve” and is separated from the mainland by the Yalahau lagoon, which is home to flamingos and pelicans. The island is located between the Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico, with waters rich in marine fauna, such as sea turtles. Highlights of the island include the quiet village of Holbox and Punta Coco beach, and at night some seasons see bioluminescence.
